Timeline for Cold War.
Berlin Airlift - It was considered the first battle of the Cold War. It happened because the western countries needed supplies and food. But the routes were blocked by the Soviet Union. On May 12, 1949 the Soviet Union stopped the blockade and the airlift was over. They carried over 2.3 millions of supplies into the city and the United States and Great Britain flew around 277,00 flights into Berlin.

The Suez Canal - It was an important man - made waterway in Egypt. It connected to the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea. It was built by the french developer, Ferdinand de Lesseps. It took over 10 years and one and a half million workers to make. It opened on November 17, 1869. Gamal Nasser took control of Egypt and wanted changes. So he took over the Suez Canal. The British, the French, and the Israelis all had issues with Nasser's government at the time. So they used the canal to attack Egypt.

The Red Scare - This name came from the colors of the Soviet Union flag. The first red Scare happened from 1919 to 1920. Workers began to strike and many blames communism. The Second Red scare happened during the start of the Cold War. It laster around 10 years. The government was involved in the Red Scare. Senator Joesph McCarthy was determined to out communists. He ruined many people's careers and lives.

Berlin Wall - It was built by the communist government of East Berlin in 1961. It separated East and West Berlin. It was built to prevent people form fleeing East Berlin. It started after World War II.

Bay of Pigs - In 1961 the United States trained Cuban exiles to Cuba and overthrow Castro's government. The failed and it was considered part of the cold war because the U.S. waned to prevent communism.

Cuban Missile Crisis - In 1962 when the soviet union began to install nuclear missiles in Cuba. As a result the Soviet Union wanted to strike the United States and they decided to work together and put missiles in Cuba that could strike most of the USA.

Collapse of the Soviet Union- started in 1980's and broke up into 15 independent states on December 25, 1991 and it signaled the end of the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United states.
